New Delhi: Former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh is celebrating his 91st birthday today. Lot many people from across the country are congratulating Dr. Singh on social media. On Tuesday, many leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Manmohan Singh and wished him a long and healthy life. On this occasion, common people are also remembering the contribution of Manmohan Singh to the development of the country as Prime Minister for 10 long years.

Dr. Manmohan Singh is also considered as a leading economist in the world. Singh played an important role in radical economic reforms in the country in the 1990s.

Twice Prime Minister of the country and Governor of RBI
Manmohan Singh served as the Prime Minister of the country for two terms from 2004 to 2014. Before becoming the Prime Minister, he served as the Governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) from 1982 to 1985. He was also the Finance Minister in the government of former Prime Minister Narasimha Rao. He played a major role in bringing economic liberalization in India in 1991. Because of him the 'License Raj' could end in the country.
Higher Education
Manmohan Singh studied from Panjab University and then went to Britain for further education. He obtained his degree with first class in Economics from Cambridge University, Britain. The former Prime Minister completed his D.Phil in Economics from Oxford University in 1962. He also served as a faculty member of Panjab University and Delhi School of Economics.
