Gujarat family holds burial ceremony for lucky car, video gone viral

Amreli: A video of a family from Gujarat performing a ritual at their farm before holding a grand burial for their "lucky car" has gone viral.

In Amreli district, a 15-foot-deep pit with a gentle slope was prepared to bury the family’s 12-year-old Wagon R. On Thursday, the Polara family bid farewell to their beloved vehicle with a ceremonial puja, showering it with rose petals amid the chanting of mantras.

According to reports, around 1,500 people, including priest and spiritual leaders, attended the event. 

Car's owner

Sanjay Polara, the car's owner, explained that the ceremony was meant to preserve the memory of their first car, which he claimed had brought prosperity to his family.

Covered with a green cloth, the car received a ceremonial puja before being buried as a gesture of gratitude.

Speaking to reporters, Polara said, "I bought this car nearly 12 years ago, and it brought prosperity to us. We saw success in business, and my family gained respect. So, we decided to give it a 'samadhi' on our farm as a tribute, rather than selling to it.
