Lahore: Counter-terrorism personnel in Pakistan's Punjab province on Sunday confirmed the elimination of five suspected terrorists in Layyah district of southern Punjab.

Source quoted the provincial counter-terrorism department (CTD), as saying that three other suspected terrorists managed to escape from the encounter spot. They also confirmed retrieving weapons and maps of sensitive areas.

They claimed the suspected terrorists belonged to banned Jamat-ul-Ahrar militant organisation and that there were plans to attack a religious site in Multan. (with ANI Inputs)
