First session of 18th Lok Sabha begins tomorrow June 24; Members to take oath

New Delhi: The first session of the 18th Lok Sabha begins tomorrow. During the session, the oath and affirmation of newly elected members will take place. 

Senior BJP MP Bhartruhari Mahtab, who has been appointed as pro tem Speaker, will administer the oath to the newly elected Lok Sabha members.

The election of the new Speaker will be held on the 26th of this month.

The session of the Rajya Sabha will commence on the 27th of this month. The Parliament session will conclude on the 3rd of next month.

This will be the first Lok Sabha session after the general elections were held in April-June. In the 18th Lok Sabha, the NDA has a majority with 293 seats, with the BJP having 240 seats, short of the majority mark of 272. The Opposition INDIA bloc has 234 seats, with Congress accounting for 99.
