FIR lodged against 26 including IAS, IPS under serious sections on SC orders in case of senior journalist Manoj Tibrewal Aakash' house demolition

Lucknow/New Delhi: The Supreme Court, on November 6, pronounced a historic verdict on the petition of senior journalist Manoj Tibrewal Aakash in the case of illegal demolition of his house in Maharajganj district of Uttar Pradesh in September 2019 without giving notice. 

Many senior officers and employees of Uttar Pradesh have come under the purview of this historic decision of the Supreme Court. On the orders of the Apex Court, FIRs have been registered under serious sections against a total of 26 individuals including IAS and IPS officers of UP.

Among the officers of Uttar Pradesh against whom FIRs have been registered, the top and biggest name is that of the then District Magistrate of Maharajganj district, Amarnath Upadhyay. It was on the conspiracy and connivance of Amarnath Upadhyay that the ancestral house of the country's senior journalist Manoj Tibrewal Aakash was razed to the ground in Maharajganj district on 19 September 2019, that too without any notice and time.

On the letter petition of Manoj Tibrewal Akash, the Supreme Court had issued a notice to the Chief Secretary of the Uttar Pradesh government and ordered to register an FIR against the culprits in the case of illegal demolition of the house. The Top Court also ordered to report back to it about the compliance of the verdict within a month.

On the basis of this order of the Supreme Court, an FIR was registered on 30 December in Maharajganj Police Station Kotwali against 26 UP Govt officials including IAS Amarnath Upadhyay, other officers, police personnel, and engineers  involved in the case of illegal demolition of the house.

Apart from the then District Magistrate of Maharajganj district Amarnath Upadhyay, FIRs have been lodged against the then Additional District Magistrate Kunj Bihari Agarwal; the then Executive Officer Municipality Maharajganj Rajesh Jaiswal; Manikant Agarwal, Works Superintendent Public Works Department Gorakhpur; Ashok Kannojia, Public Works Department, Maharajganj; Dwigvijay Mishra, RO National Highway; Alok Singh Resident Engineer; SK Verma Team Leader; Anuj Singh; Mahakaleshwar Infratech; Sunil Dwivedi; Mahakaleshwar Infratech; Ashutosh Shukla, Additional Superintendent of Police; Rajan Srivastava, Inspector Resident Notification; Santosh Singh, Inspector Resident Notification; Sarvesh Kumar Singh, City Kotwal; Nirbhay Kumar, Inspector; SK Raghuvanshi, Sub-Inspector; Neeraj Raj, City Outpost Incharge; Avinash Tripathi, Sub-Inspector; Jai Shankar Mishra Inspector; Ranvijay Sub-Inspector; Kanchan Rai Sub-Inspector; Manisha Sub-Inspector and several other unknown people.

Now the sword of arrest and consequently going to jail is hanging over all the accused against whom the FIR has been filed in the case of illegal demolition of Manoj Tibrewal Aakash.
