Punjab: Eight dead after bus plunges into drain in Bathinda, PM expresses grief

Bathinda: At least eight people were killed and several injured after a private bus plunged into a drain in Bathinda district on Friday, police said.

According to Dynamite News Correspondent, the accident occurred in Jeewan Singhwala village.

Lasara drain
The ill-fated vehicle was carrying over 45 passengers and it fell in Lasara drain. 

Police
Police and local administration launched a rescue operation and rushed the injured to a nearby hospital.

'The bus was at high speed'
According to the police, the bus was at high speed and the driver lost control. All the help that the govt can do will be extended to the families.
PM expresses grief 
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed grief over the loss of lives in the mishap. 


PM also announced ex-gratia of Rs two lakh from PMNRF to the next kin of each deceased. (With Agency Inputs)
