New Delhi: The festival of Eid is being celebrated with great fervour and with the message of love and brotherhood, reports Dynamite News correspondent.

People are exchanging the Eid greetings and hugging each other. They are sharing sweets like sevai, kheer and sheer and congratulating with joy.

This day is for sacrifice and worship as well as a symbol of happiness and brotherhood.

Eid-ul-Fitr is celebrated after the month of Ramadan. It is a special day for Muslims. This festival is celebrated after the moon is visible on the previous evening. The moon of Eid appeared in India on March 30, after which the festival of Eid is being celebrated on 31 March.

Here in Delhi, a large number of devotees incuding children offered prayers at the Jama Masjid on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr on Monday.

The Police and Paramilitary Forces teams were deployed at Jama Masjid to ensure smooth conduct of the festival. 

"We have made elaborate security arrangements for Eid. Preparations had been underway for several days and local residents also cooperated with us, which helped ensure that the morning prayers went smoothly," said a Police officer.
