Bangkok: Myanmar's Junta has declared  an 'emergency situation'in quake-hit Mandalay and the counntry's capital Naypyidaw. 

An “emergency situation” was declared in Sagaing, Mandalay, Bago and Magway regions as well as eastern Shan state, CNN reported.

Notably, Military's top leaders live in Naypyidaw while Mandalay is the second-largest city of the country.  

A 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck central Myanmar. The tremors were also felt across Thailand, as well as in neighboring Chinese provinces.

Myanmar was again hit by a strong aftershock of 6.4 magnitude 12 minutes after the strong quake, according to USGS.

At least three people have been dead after a portion of Myanmar mosque collapsed following the quake.
