New Delhi: An elderly couple was found strangled to death at their home in Northeast Delhi's Gokalpuri area. Some jewelry and Rs 4.5 lakh cash are said to be missing from the house.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Northeast) Joy Tirkey told Dynamite News that Radheshyam Verma (72) and his wife Veena (68) were found dead on Monday morning with things strewn all around in their house.

Police said that both lived on the ground floor of their house and their son Ravi Ratan along with his wife and six-year-old son lived on the first floor.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police said that Radheshyam had retired from the post of Vice-Principal from a Delhi government school in Karol Bagh and the family had been living in this house for 38 years.

Police said that some jewelery and Rs 4.5 lakh in cash were missing from the house.

Tirkey said Radheshyam had taken an earnest money of five lakh rupees to sell the rear part of his house.

According to the police, Ratan had met his parents at 10.30 pm on Sunday. The police is probing the murder.
