Vastu Shastra: Importance of Ishan Kon

New Delhi. Home is a place where you need peace, relaxation and serenity. But a very few know that the principles of Vastu Shastra play important role in creating an adequate environment inside a house. Vastu is an ancient architectural method which places a huge thrust on directions. Vastu considers 8 directions for the construction of a house.
Ishan Kon
First of all we will discuss Ishan Kon or Northeast corner. Ishan means most sacred.
1. As the name suggests, this corner houses the God. So, in any house this place should be devoted to the God.
2. At Ishan Kon, you should build worship room where family members can perform religious rituals, meditation, yoga and other sacred activities. This brings prosperity and success in the house.
3. If the room of Ishan Kon is larger in size then this place could be used as children study room.
4. There should not be any tree or big plant at the Ishan Kon. Though, smaller plants can be planted here. It is considered to be the best place for Tulsi plants. Coriander and mint plants can also be grown here.
5. Guest room or drawing room can be constructed near the worship room at Ishan Kon. There should not be storage space in guest room.
6. Ishan Kon should be kept neat and clean. There should not be accumulation of unnecessary items at this place.
7. This corner of the house plot is the right place for water bore-well or water storage.
Flaws
If the Ishan Kon is mounted then there are chances of loss of wealth or children. There might be discord at home. If this corner of the house or boundary wall is cut, then, there are chances that couple of the house would not be blessed with son and if a son take birth he might be mentally challenged or short-lived.
Remedies
At the centre of the Ishan Kon, a rudra toran should be hung at the door. Head of the family or homemaker should observe Somvar Vrat on the second Monday of every month.
