Lucknow/ 10 August 2016.
In yet another case of Dalit atrocity, a man and his daughter were mercilessly beaten for fetching water from a hand pump installed at an Ashram in Sambhal. This attack has taken place two days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a fervent appeal to stop attacks against the community.

The 13-year-old girl who was working in the fields had gone to drink water from a hand pump installed outside the Dunda Ashram in Gunnor area when she was beaten up. The priest refused to allow the girl to drink water. When she protested, he and his aides thrashed the girl and her father mercilessly.

Both sustained injuries and are undergoing treatment at a district hospital. Two men have been arrested in this incident.
