New Delhi/ 23 January 2017.
Congress leader Randeep Surjewala on Monday said that Priyanka Gandhi has defined her role within the Congress party by paving the way for the politics of new development.

"Priyanka Gandhi has defined her role by her own volition to the two parliamentary seats of Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, which is Rae Bareli and Amethi," Surjewala said.

He added that it is a fact that the Congress, including Priyanka Gandhi feels that Uttar Pradesh, which is the biggest state of the country, can play the role of a propeller in India's growth trajectory.

This will only happen when the hateful division of caste is erased completely.

"In order to put an end to the caste discrimination, corruption and lead Uttar Pradesh to a progressive path, Congress and Samajwadi Party have agreed on the alliance," he said.

He further added that like the Bihar alliance has been successful, they hope that SP-Cong alliance in Uttar Pradesh will also be a success.

Putting all speculations to rest, the Congress and the Samajwadi Party has finally forged an alliance for the high-voltage Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls.

The Congress, which wanted to contest as many as 121 seats, has reportedly now settled for 105 seats.

Uttar Pradesh will vote in seven phases beginning February 11 and results will be announced on March 11. (ANI)
