The bubbly girl entered the showbiz industry with advertisements for Liril and Perk. In 1998, she made her Bollywood debut in Mani Ratnam’s Dil Se opposite Shahrukh Khan. She was also seen in the film Soldier the very same year. Her performances in the films grabbed attention and the actress won the Filmfare Award for Best Newcomer.

The actress, known for portraying different and variety of roles, is also credited with contributing to a change in the concept of a Hindi film heroine. With films like Sangharsh, Kya Kehna, Lakshya, Veer Zara, Salaam Namaste, Armaan and Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna, Preity carved out a niche for herself in the film industry.

The diva received her first Filmfare Best Actress Award for her performance in Karan Johar's Kal Ho Naa Ho. Koi... Mil Gaya opposite Hrithik Roshan was her biggest commercial success.

Rituparno Ghosh’s The Last Lear was her first English film in which she essayed a role of a struggling film actress opposite Amitabh Bachchan. She bagged her first international film role in the Canadian film Heaven on Earth for which she was awarded the Best Actress (Silver Hugo) award at the 2008 Chicago International Film Festival.

Preity was last seen at the big screen in her Home Production Ishkq In Paris in 2013. Dynamite News wishes the charming lady a very Happy Birthday and hope to see her at the Silver Screen soon.
