Justice Tirath Singh Thakur sworn in as Chief Justice of India

Justice Tirath Singh Thakur was sworn in as the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of India by President Pranab Mukherjee at a ceremony held on thursday at Rashtrapati Bhavan. 

 

 

63-year old Justice TS Thakur took oath in the name of God at a ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan which was attended by PM Narendra Modi, his cabinet colleagues, MPs and former Chief Justices, among others. 

 

 

Justice Thakur will have a tenure of little over one year. He will retire on January 4, 2017.
