India’s big fat wedding season is around the corner, from lavish dress to traditional food to the theme wedding and designer invitations. But this fancy wedding invite from former Karnataka minister and mining king, Gali Janardhan Reddy, for his daughter’s wedding seems to have just raised the standers.

The wedding invitation is actually a blue box, which opens to display a small LCD screen playing a pre-wedding video of Reddy’s daughter Bramhani with son-in-law Rajeev.

The video starts with the family lip-syncing a welcome song announcing the upcoming nuptial, followed by visuals of the bride-to-be swirling in flowy dresses across extravagant flower decorations and the groom pacing in traditional attire against the backdrop of white, heavenly horses.

The one-minute video plays out with shots of the to-be bride and groom giving each other coy looks while the family blesses the couple by throwing flowers at them. The entire production features a luxurious mansion, idols, flower canopies and waterfalls.

According to sources, the lavish wedding is scheduled for November 16, at the Bengaluru Palace, while a reception will also be held on the previous evening at the same place. Though his hometown is Bellary in north Karnataka, Reddy, who is on bail since January 2015, has been prohibited from going to Bellary or Ananthpur (where his mining company Obalapuram Mining Company operated from) as a bail condition.

Meanwhile, there has been a relaxation in bail conditions to allow him to go to Bellary between November 1 and November 21 for inviting friends and family and later for post-wedding rituals.

Over 10,000 people are expected to attend the wedding of his daughter Brahmani with businessman Rajeev Reddy, who also makes a brief appearance in the wedding video-invite.

The host Gali Janardhan Reddy is a former Karnataka minister, who was jailed in September 2011 for involvement in illegal mining activities undertaken by his firm, the Bellary Brothers. He was released on bail in January 2015.

Reddy, got bail in January 2015 after over two years in jail as an undertrial in the 3,000-crore scam that rocked the state and its politics. Separately, he has also been under investigation for allegedly trying to bribe a judge in Telangana to get bail in some of his earlier cases.
