.  The alleged leaked tapes of conversations between Congress leader Ajit Jogi, his son Amit Jogi, their close aides and Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh’s son-in-law Puneet Gupta to fix a by-election last year have turned the political environment in Chhattisgarh deeply tensed. Whether money was offered to the congress candidate to back out from the by-election held last year has emerged as a big question. Dynamite News brings to you all sides of the story.

What is the matter?
English newspaper The Indian Express has published transcripts of the telephonic conversations involving Ajit Jogi, Amit Jogi, Puneet Gupta, Jogis’ close aides Firoz Soddiqui and Ameen Menon and Manturam Panwar who was the congress candidate for Antagarh seat by-election. The purported conversation show Ajit and Amit Jogi speaking to Puneet Gupta about making  Manturam Pawar withdraw from the election fray. The audio tapes also purportedly show that money was exchanged to ensure BJP’s victory in the election.

Who is saying what?
Congress has issued a show-cause notice to Amit Jogi and has demanded a SIT probe. The party has also demanded Chhattisgarh Chief Minster Raman Singh’s resignation.
Meanwhile, Raman Singh has called the whole issue an internal matter of the congress and said BJP has nothing to do with it.
Former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Ajit Jogi has also denied the allegations and said he will file a defamation case against the newspaper. Amit Jogi has also called the audio recording doctored and fabricated.

The Antagarh by-poll
The by-poll was held after BJP legislator Vikram Usendi resigned from Antagarh constituency following his 2014 Lok Sabha win from Kanker seat. BJP retained Antagarh constituency with its candidate Bhojraj Naag winning the by-poll. Congress candidate Manturam Pawar withdrew his nomination before the last day for withdrawal. Later, he was expelled from the party. The leader has joined BJP earlier this year.
