New Delhi / 3 Feb 2016. British artist, sculptor and diving enthusiast Jason deCaires Taylor is establishing Europeâs first underwater museum, Museo Atlantico on the seabed off the coast of Lanzarote, a part of the Canary Islands.
Described as underwater artworks, concrete Sculptures are submerged into the water and carefully placed in the form of an exhibit.
Taylor creates his sculptures based on a variety of topics, including the recent migrant situation, selfie-obsessions, and even inspired by classic paintings such as the Raft of Medusa.
The underwater museum provides a unique experience where the patrons can view the art in the eerie underwater atmosphere and lighting and while occasional marine life swims by. Another underwater museum is located in Mexico.
