New Delhi: The panoramic sight of two stars together in the biggest temple of Indian democracy, the Parliament, attracts everyone and makes all of us proud. Akhilesh Yadav and Dimple Yadav are the only pair who were elected simultaneously to the Parliament.
Exactly 25 years ago on 24th November 1999, the two stars Akhilesh and Dimple tied the knot. At that time, no one would have even dreamt that one day both of them would leave their indelible mark on the political scene of the country as at that time they were far away from politics.
Dimple and Akhilesh Yadav are celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary today on Saturday. On this occasion, Dynamite News is going to unfold the untouched aspects of their life. How both of them got tied in a bond and have walked together for a wonderful journey of 25 years.
It is the times when both of them were studying. They met at a place and fell in love and became each other's forever and ever.
Family background
Akhilesh Yadav comes from a political family, whereas Dimple is from an army background. Akhilesh' father Mulayam Singh Yadav was a veteran politician who was the Defence Minister of India and the Chief Minister of the country's largest state Uttar Pradesh thrice. Dimple's father RCS Rawat held the post of Colonel in the Army.
Education
While Dimple obtained B. Com degree from Lucknow University, Akhilesh did Bachelor of Engineering from Mysore University and after that did his Masters in Environmental Engineering from Sydney University, Australia. At that time, Akhilesh Yadav might not have thought even in his dreams that he would suddenly enter politics instead of pursuing a career as an engineer. But it is said that the family's ambience can change a person's intentions and this is what exactly happened with Akhilesh.
First major turning point
A major change occurred in the life of this couple when Akhilesh Yadav entered the politics just a few days after their marriage.

And in the year 2000, for the first time, Akhilesh won a landslide victory in the by-election on Kannauj Lok Sabha seat. Many people considered this victory of Akhilesh as 'lady luck'. After that with this lady luck and his dedication, hard work, honesty and true courage, Akhilesh never looked back.
Today in the country of 140 crores, Akhilesh Yadav is counted among the top ten political leaders of India. And in the recently held general elections, his Samajwadi Party has emerged as the third largest party in the country.
In a political career of two and a half decades, Akhilesh has tasted success every time. While he was elected 5 times to the Lok Sabha, 1 time each to the Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council. At the age of just 39 years in 2012, he became the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, a state with a dense population of 25 crores.
Family harmony
As the saying goes, there is always a woman behind every successful man. And Dimple Yadav proved this true once again. While Akhilesh was achieving success after success on the political scene, Dimple was looking after the family obligations very well and was nurturing their two daughters Aditi and Tina and son Arjun with great zeal.
Challenges
There are always ups and downs in everybody's life, no matter how great a person is? And Akhilesh-Dimple were also not an exception to it. Whether it was about becoming the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh or some challenges arising within the family in 2016, Akhilesh kept moving ahead holding Dimple's hand despite all the obstacles.
Dimple's political entry
It can perhaps be called a coincidence that while fulfilling her family responsibilities, Dimple, who comes from an army background, had to suddenly choose the zig-zag path of politics. But it was not easy for her. When the Samajwadi Party was going through its worst phase and several leaders were leaving the party due to lack of power in the center as well as in the state, Dimple crossed all odds and got her first victory on the Kannauj Lok Sabha Seat in 2012.
Although earlier Dimple had contested the Lok Sabha by-election from Firozabad in 2009 and lagged behind by a few votes. But this failure perhaps made Dimple bolder and stronger. As a result, she waved her flag of victory in the 2014, 2022 and 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

An epitome of humility and simplicity
In her decade-long parliamentary career, Dimple has made a distinct identity for herself in the country's political arena. She had made her intentions clear from her maiden address in the Lok Sabha that she is there in the political field for a long race. Dimple spoke in the Lok Sabha on 7 August 2014 against atrocities on women and children.
Netaji's demise
Mulayam Singh Yadav, who always shone on the Indian political horizon like a star, had to face a lot of struggles. He was fondly called Netaji and Dhartiputra.
Unfortunately, Netaji passed away in October 2022 leaving a big vacuum in the family specially in the life of Dimple and Akhilesh. This was a time when Dimple performed the duty of the daughter-in-law very well. At the time of Netaji's funeral, when an emotional Akhilesh was feeling all alone even in the crowd of lakhs and was immersed in unbearable grief, it was Dimple who came forward and firmly stood by him.
