GST launched was the historic event in the nation which was attended by the prominent figures of the country.

New Delhi: President Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minister Narendra Modi together launched the Good and Services Tax (GST) at midnight in the parliament. The day was scripted in Indian history. This was the fifth time when parliament was convened for a midnight session. But, the implementation of a government policy, the GST, is the first time that a session has been organized.

Here is the list of midnight sessions in the past:


August 14-15, 1947: The Constituent Assembly of India met in the Constitution Hall (now the Central Hall of Parliament) on the eve of the country’s Independence. It started at 11 p.m. and went on till after midnight.
