New Delhi: Three persons have been arrested and a sum Rs 1.27 crore recovered in connection with the robbery in the national capital's Baba Haridas Nagar, Delhi Police said.

Police on Friday received a call in the police control room where the caller stated that some persons posing as Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials had decamped with over Rs 3.2 crore from his house.

Two persons involved in the dacoity were apprehended on Saturday while one accused was apprehended earlier during the investigation, officials said. An FIR was registered in this connection and subsequently, one Amit was arrested from Narela in the city and Rs 70 lakh of the looted cash was recovered from him. A car and an illegal pistol both allegedly used in the commission of the theft were seized from his possession, police said.

Based on Amit's interrogation and information received from secret sources, another accused, identified as Rohit, was apprehended on Saturday night and on the basis of further interrogation of both the accused, a dedicated team of Operations Cell Dwarka was constituted to nab the remaining three accused persons and to recover the looted cash.

A search operation by the team led to the arrest of one Manish from whom Rs 57 lakh cash was recovered. Another car used in the commission of the crime was also recovered, police said.

The total amount of recovered cash in the case till now totalled Rs 1.27 crore, police said. Further raids are being conducted at Delhi, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh by several police teams, said officials. (ANI)
