New Delhi: With Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the council of ministers scheduled to take oath on June 9, Delhi Police on Friday banned the operation of sub-conventional aerial platforms in the National Capital including unmanned aerial vehicles, paragliders, microlight aircraft and hot air balloons.

The ban will be in force from June 9 to June 10, unless withdrawn earlier, the order issued by Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora said.

The order has been issued in response to the threat posed by criminal and anti-social elements or terrorists inimical to India, who may use the sub-conventional aerial platforms to harm the general public, dignitaries and vital installations, the order said adding that even para-jumping from aircraft is prohibited.

Those acting in defiance of the order shall be punishable under Section 188 (deliberate disobedience) of the Indian Penal Code, it added.
