Delhi: Man absconding for 12 years held

A man who was absconding for the last 12 years was arrested.

New Delhi: A 40-year-old man who was absconding for the last 12 years was arrested here, police said on Wednesday. 

Mohammad Yusuf, a resident of Jamia Nagar was wanted in two cases of attempt to murder, they said.

On August 20, specific inputs were received that Yusuf, who has been declared a 'proclaimed offender' by the local court would be coming to Zakir Nagar area. A trap was laid and he was apprehended, they added.

According to police, several efforts were made previously to nab the absconder but, his whereabouts could not be traced, as he was residing in Kashmir along with his family members.

On November 21, 2005, Yusuf along with his associates were planning a dacoity when a police party tried to apprehend them but they managed to escape, G Ram Gopal Naik, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) said. 

A case was registered at the Shahdra Police Station and investigation was taken up, said the DCP. (PTI)
