Sagar Dhankar Murder Case: Wrestler Sushil Kumar gets relief, Delhi High Court grants bail

New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Tuesday granted bail to Olympic wrestler Sushil Kumar in the case related to the murder of former junior national wrestling champion Sagar Dhankar at Chhatrasal Stadium here.
Justice Sanjeev Narula after hearing arguments on behalf of Counsel for Kumar and Government Counsel granted bail to Kumar with the condition of furnishing the bail bonds of Rs. 50,000 with two sureties.

Counsel for Kumar had challenged the order of Trial Court which rejected the regular bail in July, 2024.
The Counsel submitted before the Court that he had been in jail for 3.5 years and trial of the case may take the long time to conclude.

He submitted that in this matter the chargesheet had already been framed and material witnesses had been examined in the court.
Kumar, who won medals at the London and Beijing Olympics was arrested on May 23, 2021. He has been charged with the murder of 23-year-old Sagar in the National Capital.
