Delhi: 4 killed, 15 injured as truck rams into vehicle carrying 'Kanwariyas' on GT Karnal Road

New Delhi: At least four people were killed and 15 others injured after an allegedly speeding truck crossed a divider at Siraspur on GT Karnal Road and crashed into another truck in outer Delhi on Thursday. The deceased were on their way to Haridwar for the Kanwar Yatra to fetch the Ganga waters
According to police, nineteen injured have been shifted to Satyawadi Raja Harish Chandra Hospital in Narela, where four of them were declared dead by doctors. Two of them were referred to a higher centre in Balaji Action Centre Paschim Vihar for further treatment, and five injured were sent to Babu Jagjivan Ram Memorial Hospital in Jahangirpuri.

A senior police official said that in the preliminary investigation, it came to light that one of the trucks which was coming towards Delhi had allegedly crossed the central divider of GTK road and rammed the Kanwar yatris truck in which around 20-23 kanwar yatris were travelling.
The accused truck driver is still on the run, police said. (with UNI inputs)
