New Delhi: In a huge drug bust, the Special Cell of the Delhi Police confiscated a large consignment of cocaine weighing around 200 kg, worth Rs 2,000 crores from the Ramesh Nagar area of the national capital city Delhi. This drug was kept in packets of namkeen, said police said on Thursday.

Delhi Police busted
This comes days after the Delhi Police busted an international drug syndicate and seized more than 560 kg of cocaine in the national capital on October 2.

According to the Delhi Police, these drugs were recovered from a closed shop in Ramesh Nagar and were kept in packets of namkeen.

The police officials said, "Delhi Police Special Cell has recovered a consignment of cocaine from a closed shop in Ramesh Nagar.

About 200 kg of drugs have been recovered, whose value in the international market is more than Rs 2,000 crore. This drug was kept in packets of namkeen."

Accused arrested 
According to the Special Cell Sources, a man named Akhlaq, a resident of Hapur district of Uttar Pradesh has been arrested for allegedly transporting the consignment. After interrogating him, the police said that the person who kept the drugs here was a UK citizen and had been absconding since then.

The Special Cell Sources said, "200 kg of cocaine was recovered from the warehouse in Ramesh Nagar. The person who kept the drugs in that warehouse is a UK citizen and after keeping the cocaine there, he is absconding. Police got information about this UK citizen only after interrogating Ekhlaq (arrested in Rs 5,000 crore drug case).

Currently, the investigation is ongoing and more details are awaited.

On October 2, the Delhi Police busted an international drug syndicate and seized more than 560 kg of cocaine in the national capital on Wednesday, Pramod Singh Kushwaha, Additional Commissioner of Police Special Cell, said that it is the biggest cocaine haul in recent times.

Four people arrested
Four people have also been arrested in connection with the case. Additional CP Kushwaha said that 15 kg of cocaine was recovered from the personal possession of the accused Tushar Goyal, Himanshu and Aurangzeb, while the remaining marijuana and cocaine were found in the godown.

Tushar Goyal is a resident of Vasant Vihar in Delhi while Himanshu and Aurangzeb are his two associates. Bharat Jain, a receiver from Kurla West (Mumbai), has also been caught," he said. "Around 15 kg of cocaine was recovered from the personal possession of Tushar Goyal, Himanshu and Aurangzeb. They were caught when they were coming out of the godown in Mahipalpur Extension to give the supply to the receiver. Remaining marijuana and cocaine were found in the godown. 

"The forward and backward linkages point to a Middle Eastern country--a major handler can be seen. This is the biggest cocaine haul in recent times," Additional CP Kushwaha added. (with Agency inputs)
