Delhi Assembly Polls: Congress announces 'Jeevan Raksha Yojna'

Delhi: A day after the Election Commission of India (ECI) announced the schedule for Delhi Assembly Polls, Congress on Wednesday promised a "Jeevan Raksha Yojana" under which free health insurance of up to Rs 25 lakh will be provided, if voted to power.
Former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) President Devender Yadav and party leader Qazi Nizamuddin, and other senior party leaders launched the scheme.

“We started the similar scheme (Chiranjeevi Yojana) in Rajasthan under which people of the state were given free treatment up to Rs 25 lakh,” Gehlot said after launching the scheme.

“The scheme was for everyone, there was no compulsion for anyone in it,” he added.
'Game-changer'
He said the proposed scheme would be a game-changer.
“The chances of the Congress forming the government in Delhi are increasing. I believe this is also necessary for the country," he said.

Polls on Feb 8
On Tuesday, ECI announced the poll dates for Assembly polls. The National capital will go to polls in single phase on Feb 5 while the outcome of the polls will be announced on Feb 8.
