Criminal with Rs 1 lakh bounty killed in police encounter in UP's Mathura

Mathura: A criminal carrying a Rs 1 lakh bounty was killed in a police encounter in Uttar Pradesh's Mathura district early Sunday morning, officials said.
According to Dynamite News, the gunbattle took place in the Highway police station area, where the police had received information from an informer that a gang of criminals was present in the area.

Subsequently, police launched the operation. As soon as the police team surrounded the miscreants, one of them, Fati alias Asad, started firing at the police. In retaliation, he was injured by a police bullet. He was immediately admitted to the hospital, but the doctors declared him dead.
Asad, who was a resident of Hapur district, had been a headache for the police for a long time. He was wanted in several serious crimes including robbery, dacoity, murder. More than three dozen cases were registered against him in Hapur district and he was also wanted in several cases in Mathura.
