Srinagar: Militants Saturday shot dead a civilian in Sopore township of Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir, police said.

Militants fired upon the civilian in Bomai area of Sopore this afternoon, a police official said.

He said the civilian - Hakim-ur-Rehman, a resident of Reshipora Bomai - received critical bullet injuries in the attack.

The injured was evacuated to the nearby hospital for medical attention where he succumbed to injuries, the official said.

Police have registered a case in this regard and investigation in the instant matter has been initiated, he said. (PTI)
