Patna: Days after West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC Chief Mamata Banerjee expressed her desire to lead India bloc, Rashtriya Janata Dal supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav on Tuesday threw his weight behind the West Bengal Chief Minister.

The former railway minister also said if the grand old party had any reservation about accepting Banerjee as the leader of the Bloc, it would "not make any difference".

Lalu on Mamata Banerjee 

"Mamta Banerjee should be allowed to head the INDIA bloc," the RJD chief asserted.

Earlier, his son and former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav he had no objection to endorse any senior leaders, including TMC chief, adding the decision must be taken through consensus.

Notably, Banerjee on December 6 expressed dissatisfaction with the functioning of the INDIA bloc, signalling her intent to lead the alliance if given the opportunity.

On being asked about Bihar Chief Minister and JDU Chief Nitish Kumar's proposed ‘yatra’, the RJD supremo took a dig at him, saying: “He holding the statewide yatra just to refresh his eyes.”

Notably, Banerjee on December 6 expressed dissatisfaction with the functioning of the INDIA bloc, signalling her intent to lead the alliance if given the opportunity.
