Chief Commissioner of Railway Safety NFR Janak Garg to probe Kanchanjunga accident

Siliguri: Railways has announced that Chief Commissioner of Railway Safety of Northeast Frontier Railway, Janak Kumar Garg, will hold an inquiry into Monday's accident between Agartala-Sealdah Kanchanjunga Express and a goods train that left nine people dead.
The passenger train bound for Sealdah was crashed into from the rear end in West Bengal's northern district between Rangapani and Chattarhat under Katihar division that also left 55 wounded, official sources said on Tuesday.

Among the dead, six have been identified, one of them was 41-year old woman Beauti Begum, have been handed over to the relatives, hospital sources said.
However, unconfirmed sources said the toll reached 10 in yesterday's accident, which happened at 8.55 am in Darjeeling district.

Garg will hold the inquiry from 10 am on Wednesday at the ADRM office of the New Jalpaiguri station and the railways have appeal to people who have knowledge of the accident to appear with documentary evidence for the probe to determine the causes of the accident. (with Agency inputs)
