Chhattisgarh: Naxal killed in Bijapur encounter

Bijapur: A Naxal was killed and another was apprehended in an encounter between security forces and Maoists in Bijapur district's Bedre area of Chhattisgarh on Sunday. 
The operation is still underway.Arms and ammunition were recovered from the site. Further details are awaited.

In another incident, a Border Security Force (BSF) Assistant Sub-inspector (ASI) was injured in an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast in Kanker Koyalibeda area today morning.

ASI Mahender Singh sustained splinter and bullet injury on his neck. A set of six IEDs were planted in a series and were set off in one go between village Gome and Gattakal in  Koyalibeda.

On November 8, at least four civilians and one Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel were killed after Naxal triggered a blast in a bus near Bacheli in Dantewada district.

As many as 18 assembly seats in eight districts of Chhattisgarh will go to polls tomorrow (November 12). The polling for remaining 72 seats will take place on November 20 and the counting of votes will take place on December 11.

Tight security arrangements are in place in the Naxal affected areas of the state to ensure that no untoward incident occurs during the polling process. (ANI)
