Informing about the decision at a press briefing here, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Prakash Javadekar said, “The Government has approved the creation of post of Chief of Defence Staff. The officer to be appointed as Chief of Defence Staff will be a four star General and will also head the Department of military affairs.”
The government’s in-principle approval of creating the post of CDS was announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi earlier this year in his Independence Day address from the ramparts of Red Fort.(ANI)
