New Delhi: Senior IPS officer Tapan Deka (HP: 88) has been appointed as the new IB chief. The tenure of IPS Samant Kumar Goel (PB: 84) as Secretary of RAW has been extended by one more year.

IPS officer Tapan Deka was till now posted as Special Director in IB.

Tapan Deka hails from Tezpur in Assam and is a 1988 batch IPS officer of Himachal Pradesh cadre.

Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) Secretary Samant Goel has been given an extension for a period of one year till 30 June 2023. Samant Kumar Goel is a 1984 batch IPS officer of Punjab cadre.
