Orai (Allahabad): Hitting back at Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati's opposition to the Centre's demonetisation drive, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said the nature of the party has changed to 'Behenji Sampatti Party' and accused her of amassing ill-gotten wealth after demonetisation.

Mocking the BSP and the Samajwadi Party, Prime Minister Modi said both came together against the demonetisation scheme though they usually oppose each other on most topics.

"Aren't the Samajwadi Party (SP) and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) staunch rivals? But I was amazed when all the Opposition parties started speaking in one voice when I banned 500 and 1000 rupee notes and asked for records of black money hoarders," Prime Minister said while addressing a rally in Orai.

Continuing his tirade against Mayawati, Prime Minister Modi said, "Behenji (Mayawati) said there was not enough planning. Did I ask her, planning by the government or you? She said a week should have been given. Had I done that, the people who looted would have vanished. The money would not have come to banks."

He said the former Uttar Pradesh chief minister's problem with demonetisation was that she did not get enough time to prepare herself.

"Her question is why the accounts of her brother are being talked about. She accuses that it is so because of the elections. No, Behenji. It is because you deposited 100 crores just after the notes ban.BSP no longer Bahujan Samaj Party...it is now Behenji Sampatti Party," he added.

Prime Minister Modi also stuck to the development agenda, promising a slew of developmental strategies for the poverty stricken Bundelkhand region of Uttar Pradesh.

Asserting that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will create a Bundelkhand Development Board to address the issue of the region if voted in power, he said it is now Bundelkhand, who has to decide whether it wants to get out of the clutch of SP and the BSP.

"Among all the states in India, Uttar Pradesh is in the worst condition. The ministers of the BSP, Congress and SP have destroyed Uttar Pradesh and its impact can be seen mostly on Bundelkhand. BJP promises you that if it comes to power in UP, an independent Bundelkhand Development Board will be constituted. Bundelkhand has to decide whether it wants to get out of the clutches of SP, BSP. Defeat BSP, SP and Congress so badly that they will never take the Bundelkhand region for granted again," he added.

Slamming the Opposition parties, Prime Minister Modi said the successive governments failed to develop the region even after 70 years of independence.

"The current government does not care about the education of children. Poor have to suffer because of this. Uttar Pradesh has become a poor state because of corruption. We want to free the state from this condition," he added.

Raising the law and order issue in the state, Prime Minister Modi asked the people whether or not they get help from the police stations or the government when required. (ANI)
