BJP names Purushottam Khandelwal for by-poll to Agra North

New Delhi: The BJP has fielded Purushottam Khandelwal for the by-election to the Agra North assembly constituency in Uttar Pradesh.

The announcement was made by the party's CEC secretary J P Nadda on Sunday night. The assembly constituency had fallen vacant earlier this month following the death of sitting MLA Jagan Prasad Garg.

The Election Commission has announced that the voting for the seat will be held on May 19 - the last day of polling in the on-going parliamentary elections.

The Congress nominee is senior party leader Ranveer Sharma.The Agra North seat has been a known BJP stronghold pocket.
