Bihar Hooch Tragedy: 8 More Die, Death Toll Soars To 80

Close on the heels of the hooch tragedy in dry Bihar that left over 70 people dead in Saran district, eight more died allegedly after consuming some spurious liquor in Siwan and Begusarai districts on Saturday. Read on for details:

Patna: Close on the heels of the hooch tragedy in dry Bihar that left over 70 people dead in Saran district, eight more died allegedly after consuming some spurious liquor in Siwan and Begusarai districts on Saturday.

Official sources said here on Saturday that 6 deaths were reported from Siwan district whereas two people reportedly died in Begusarai district after consuming spurious liquor. They had consumed the liquor on Friday night after which they were taken ill and succumbed in due course of treatment in the morning.

The exact cause of the death in Siwan and Begusarai district was being ascertained. Raids were going on to nab those involved in the sale of liquor, informed the sources.
