Patna: The Bihar Cabinet approved the 'Bihar State School Teacher (Appointment, Transfer, Disciplinary Action and Service Conditions) Rules, 2023' on Monday and now the state government will set up a separate commission for the recruitment of teachers in government schools.

According to Dynamite News correspondent, the state government has also announced a four percent increase in the dearness allowance (DA) of its employees and pensioners.

After the Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary of the Cabinet Secretariat S. Siddharth told reporters that the 'Bihar State School Teacher (Appointment, Transfer, Disciplinary Action and Service Conditions) Rules, 2023' has been approved.

He told that under the new rule, the government will appoint teachers through a commission.

According to a senior official of the state education department, now about 1.5 lakh teachers from primary to senior secondary level will be appointed based on the revised guidelines.

Bihar deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav tweeted, “According to the new decision, teachers will now be state employees. Now lakhs of teachers will be reinstated through the commission.”
