New Delhi: India will constitute the 8th Pay Commission in 2025 to revise salaries for central government employees and pensioners. The current 7th Pay Commission's recommendations expire in December 2025. Employees expect significant changes, including a higher fitment factor potentially increasing to 3.0 from the current 2.57.

Key discussions focus on merging Dearness Allowance with basic pay and adjusting salaries for inflation. The decision will affect over 4.8 million employees and 6.8 million pensioners nationwide. Unions demand substantial hikes, citing rising living costs since the last revision in 2016.
