Srinagar: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Yatra in Kashmir was suspended today due to "very serious security lapses" as alleged by Congress.
Rahul Gandhi was to walk 20 km in the Kashmir Valley but had to stop after about a km in Banihal after a sudden withdrawal of security caused the security breach and a large waiting crowd there breached security bound area.

Later, addressing media persons, Rahul Gandhi said, “It is the responsibility to do crowd control. It is the role of the police to guarantee that. I don’t know why it happened. But it should not happen tomorrow and day after tomorrow.”
Congress spokesperson Jairam Ramesh said that there was a discussion underway between Rahul Gandhi’s security team and “administration so that it is not repeated tomorrow and we don’t face such difficulty ahead. We are in Kashmir today, tomorrow and day after tomorrow”.
