Bajrang Punia, Sarita storm into finals of Asian Wrestling Championship
Bajrang Punia fended off Kim Kukgwang of North Korea 7-5 to book his place in the summit showdown.
New Delhi: Indian wrestlers Bajranj Punia (65 Kg) and Sarita (58 Kg) have assured India of two more silver medals in the ongoing Asian Wrestling Championship after they stormed into the finals of their respective categories here in the national capital on Saturday.
The 23-year-old fended off Kim Kukgwang of North Korea 7-5 to book his place in the summit showdown.
He will now lock horns with Lee Seungchul of South Korea for a gold medal.

Meanwhile, Sarita moved to the finals of the women's 58 Kg category after defeating her Vietnamese opponent Thi Huong Dao 12-0 (technical fall) in the last-four clash.She will now face Tynybekova Aisuluu of Kyrgyzstan.

Earlier, Rio Olympic bronze-medallist Sakshi Malik had to settle for a Silver after losing against Risako Kawai of Japan by 0-10 in the gold medal match of the 60kg category.

Meanwhile, another Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat had also lost her gold medal match against Sae Nanjo of Japan, going down 4-8 to in freestyle 55kg finals.
Ritu Phogat also settled with a bronze medal in the 48kg category in women's wrestling. (ANI)
