Australia welcomes 2025 with spectacular fireworks display

Sydney: People welcomed 2025 with hundreds of thousands of revellers gathering on the shores of Sydney Harbour and the Yarra to celebrate a spectacular fireworks display.

Sydney Lord Mayor Clover Moore said the city had once again "set the benchmark for New Year's Eve celebrations".

"Tonight, we launched more fireworks from more locations than ever before, including from new aerial pyrotechnic platforms and new firing positions on the western side of the Harbour Bridge, making this our biggest NYE spectacle ever," 9News quoted Clover Moore as saying.

Meanwhile, thousands in Melbourne have rung in 2025 with an impressive rooftop fireworks display and laser show. 

Auckland

New Zealand's Auckland has also welcomed the New Year with fireworks at Auckland’s Sky Tower.
