Atiq, Ashraf Murder: UP govt forms two SITs to investigate killing of don brothers

Lucknow: The UP Government has now formed two three-member Special Investigation Teams (SITs) to investigate and monitor the probe into the killing of gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf.
According to Dynamite News correspondent, the first SIT is to be headed by Addl DCP Satish Chandra that will look into Atiq Ahmed’s murder. The other two members include SP Satyendra Tiwari and Crime Branch Inspector Om Prakash Singh. The second SIT will supervise the first unit.

Atiq and his brother Ashraf, were gunned down on Saturday amid police presence, and buried in Prayagraj at the same graveyard where his son was laid to rest, reourts Dynamite News correspondent.
After the murder, Opposition parties came down heavily on the BJP-led state government, saying that there was “brazen anarchy in the state”.
