At least 6 dead, over a dozen injured after tourist submarine sinks off Egypt coast, know all updates

Cairo: At least six people died and nine were injured after a submarine carrying tourists sank off the Egyptian's Red Sea resort city of Hurghada.

The tragedy occurred in waters opposite Hurghada’s Marriot Hotel resort.

The Russian consulate in Hurghada informed all the tourists on the submarine were Russian citizens.

"Most of those on the submarine were rescued and taken to their hotels and hospitals in Hurghada," according to the consulate.

The submarine was out on a regular tour with tourists to view coral reefs. The submarine capsized about 1 kilometre from the shore.

The local government said that Emergency crews were able to rescue 29 people.
