Apple to partner Volkswagen in employee transport technology

New Delhi: Even as people are not too confident of autonomous technology, Apple is reportedly partnering with Volkswagen to use the technology for its employee transport.

The two giants have joined hands to turn the existing T6 Transporter vans into self-driving shuttles for Apple employees, The Verge reported.

Apple is long-known to be working on its own self-driving car technology. However, the technology is yet to be seen in its full bloom.

The reported partnership with Volkswagen comes after Apple's negotiations with other car majors such as BMW and Mercedes did not materialise owing as the iPhone maker wanted control over the design of the vehicle and the data it generates.

Apple has its own car division, codenamed Project Titan. The company once aimed to build both the hardware and software for a new autonomous vehicle, but since last year, the new shuttle service known as PAIL or Palo Alto to Infinite Loop has taken precedence over other goals. (ANI)
