Jammu: The Amarnath Yatra will start on July 3 and end on August 9, according to the Amarnathji Shrine Board, reports Dynamite News correspondent.
The Registration for the Yatra began yesterday on 14 April. Now the devotees can register online through the official Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB) website or offline at over 540 authorized bank branches across India.

The Amarnath Cave, a natural formation, is not a temple in the traditional sense, as it was not built by humans.
The lingam is thought to be formed by water droplets freezing within the cave, reaching its maximum size during the Shravan month (July-August) on a full moon.

The Amarnath Yatra is a holy Hindu pilgrimage because the Amarnath Cave is believed to be the abode of Lord Shiva.
Dedicated to Lord Shiva, the Amarnath shirne in Jammu and Kashmir is one of the oldest pilgrimage sites for Hindus. The Linga is located on Amarnath mountain and is covered in snow.
Pilgrims undertake the yatra to seek blessings, experience spiritual fulfillment, and have a darshan (sighting) of the ice linga.

Inside the cave, a Swayambhu Shivalinga (symbol of Shiva) forms from the freezing of water droplets dripping from the cave ceiling.
The ice lingam's size varies with the lunar cycle, growing larger on a full moon during Shravan, according to Amar Granth.
The water is believed to originate from glaciers in the Lidder Valley, flowing through hidden pathways to the cave.
