Alabama: Gunman shoots two at hospital, kills self

Two people were severely wounded after an unknown gunman opened fire at UAB Hospital-Highlands in the US state of Alabama, before shooting himself dead.

Alabama: Two people were severely wounded after an unknown gunman opened fire at UAB Hospital-Highlands in the US state of Alabama, before shooting himself dead.

According to local media reports, the incident took place on Wednesday evening. Both victims sustained life-threatening injuries and were rushed to UAB Hospital The shooter, a male, was found dead in a third floor emergency room.

On receiving information at 6:55 p.m., Birmingham police reached the site and searched each room. The shooter was found dead on the third floor of the hospital.

The UAB Hospital tweeted at 7:45 p.m. that the active shooter situation at the hospital was over, after the UAB Police issued an all clear.

In wake of the shooting, surgeries scheduled for tomorrow were also canceled. It is yet to be known whether the gunman knew victims. (ANI)
