Bhubaneswar: After Cyclone Dana, the Odisha Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja took stock of the damage done in the state, the relief efforts being carried out, and highlighted that around 92 pc of connectivity has been restored across the state.
Chief Secretary statement
"An assessment has been done... About 22 lakh electricity consumers have been affected by the cyclone and connectivity has been restored to 92% of the people except Bhadrak district.
Our teams are working for the rest of the people as well... About 8.1 lakh people came to cyclone shelters though they have gone back after the situation became normal. We still have only 1.1 lakh people in the shelters." Said, Manoj Ahuja.

Moreover, disaster relief and security forces carried out a rescue operation late night on Saturday in the Tala Gopabindha village in Bhadrak district.
Waterlogging in some area
The Chief Secretary added further that some people were affected by snake bites but have been given treatment for it, and by Sunday everything will be normal in the state.
"Waterlogging has happened in some areas. We have taken steps to evacuate people there... 28 people were affected by snake bites...they are all fine...by tomorrow we will make everything normal..," he added.

CM Majhi expressed gratitude
Cyclone Dana hit the Odisha coast on Friday, though the state did not report any causality during the storm. Chief Minister Charan Majhi on Saturday, expressed gratitude to the people who played a vital role in this.
"The people of Odisha survived Cyclone Dana by the grace of Lord Jagannath. I thank all the ministers, MLAs, MPs and government officials of the state for the teamwork that played a vital role in achieving the zero casualty target.
Everyone worked day and night to protect the people and provide them with essential services," CM Majhi said. (with Agency inputs)
