New Delhi: Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar on Friday stated that cash had been recovered by Parliament security officials from the seat allocated to Congress MP Abhishek Manu Singhvi.

Dhankhar's statement on the floor of the House prompted protests from Congress MPs, with Mallikarjun Kharge emphasising that names should not be mentioned before an investigation is conducted.

However, Abhishek Manu Singhvi strongly denied the allegations.

Abhishek Singhvi statement
"I only carry a Rs 500 note when I go to the Rajya Sabha. I am hearing about this for the first time. I arrived at the House at 12:57 pm, and the House rose at 1 pm. After that, I sat in the canteen until 1:30 pm and then left Parliament," said Singhvi.

As soon as the Rajya Sabha proceedings began, Dhankhar informed the House that the bundle of notes had been found during routine security checks.
