The navy authorities also recovered a mechanised boat from the fishermen.

Straying of Indian and Sri Lankan fishermen into each other's waters is a recurrent problem as territories on the sea are not clearly demarcated.
According to media reports, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami last week wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging him to secure the release of eight fishermen from Tamil Nadu lodged in Sri Lankan prisons. (ANI)
