The BJP-led central government on Thursday rejected the charge that it was trying to end reservation for SCs and STs, as the Lok Sabha passed the Constitution (Scheduled Castes) Orders (Amendment) Bill, 2017, that seeks to modify the list of Scheduled Castes in Odisha.
Replying to a debate on the bill, Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Thaawar Chand Gehlot said the bill is one step further as part of the government's resolve for welfare and upliftment of the people belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. (ANI)
